ANC 2A Announces Election of James Harnett for 2A08

Advisory Neighborhood Commission 2A is pleased to announce that James Harnett, a Foggy Bottom resident, has been elected as the next commissioner for single member district 2A08. James will be filling the vacancy that was created after former Commissioner Eve Zhurbinskiy resigned from the seat in December of 2017. James first submitted petitions to the DC Board of Elections to fill the vacancy on March 5th, and after the successful end of the public review period for the petitions today, the Board of Elections has announced that James will officially be a member of ANC 2A. He will be sworn in by Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans next Wednesday, March 21st.

James Harnett is currently a sophomore at the George Washington University, studying computer science and political science. He is also a cabinet official in the GW Student Association, an Eagle Scout, and a volunteer with the GW Nashman Center. James has also worked for the U.S. Department of Education and Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

James is looking forward to the opportunity to serve on the ANC, and to advocate on behalf of GW students and the university’s neighbors as a commissioner. He can be reached by phone at (202) 854-0654, via Facebook, or via Twitter.
