Meet ANC 2A’s New Commissioners

ANC 2A would like to welcome two new commissioners for the commission’s 2017-2018 term. On November 8th Marco Guzman was elected as the Commissioner for district 2A03, succeeding former Commissioner John Williams, and Detrick Campbell was elected as the Commissioner for district 2A07, filling a long term vacancy on the Commission that was created after the resignation of former Commissioner Jackson Carnes in September of 2015.

Marco Guzman is an editor assistant with the publication Tax Analysts where he focuses on state tax policy. In 2015 he received his master’s degree in public policy from George Mason University, and has spent time as a legislative intern in the House of Representatives and as a research intern with the DC Fiscal Policy Institute. Marco is incredibly passionate about public service and volunteers regularly at H.D. Cooke Elementary School as a reading tutor on weekends.

Detrick Campbell, a native Washingtonian, hails from the Petworth neighborhood in Ward 4. He is currently a junior at the George Washington University, studying economics and political science with a background in accounting and public policy. Detrick has working experience in the public sector and with the DC Government. His work in the public sector includes research regarding community oriented policing with the Justice Department’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), constituent fieldwork with Ward 4 Councilmember Brandon Todd’s Office, and performance management work with the Mayor’s Office.

Marco and Detrick were sworn-in with their fellow commissioners on January 2nd, and are looking forward to advocating on behalf of their constituents and the entire Foggy Bottom and West End communities.
